Imperfection Is Beauty Canvas

Hi all and welcome back to The Crafty Bat blog.

Today I have been busy working on another mixed media art canvas board piece, using some fantastic stamps by Visible Image, Distress Inks, Ink Sprays, Embossing Powders. I shall link to the stamps used at the end of this blog.

The main focal point of this piece is the beautiful Death Head Moth  along with the lightbulbs which is part of a set of stamps called Glimmer Of Light.

Other stamps used are The Galaxy Set, and Imperfection Is Beauty stamp all by Visible Image.

I started off by using distress inks to cover the canvas board it self, I then stamped on the swirls from the Galaxy Set once that was all done I set my canvas board to one side.

Next I got some watercolour card and used my Ink Sprays I only used two colours out of the ones i have, once i was happy with it I used my heat tool to dry it and then took my Moth stamp inked it up with embossing ink and stamp where i wanted them and then used some black embossing powder and then used my heat tool to set it, I did the same with the sentiment. The light bulbs were stamped with embossing ink again but onto smooth white card and I then used the black, and silver embossing powders for the cable part and some Glow In The Dark embossing powder for the light bulbs, this was all then set with an heat tool

Lastly i fussy cut all the parts out and made the wings curled under to give a 3D effect, these were then all glued into place once I was happy with where I wanted them.

Stamps used from Visible Image

Art Journalling Pages

Hi all and welcome back to The Crafty Bat

Apologise on the quietness I wanted to have a few more blog posts done before now but due to some bad news earlier this week it has been the last thing on my mind.

Anyways...... This post is to show you all some of my Art Journal Pages and so on that I have done, these were a bit of an experiment finding my feet kind of thing when I first started to use Ink Sprays and get back into my stamping. I will admit I do have a few favourites and I am sure you will guess which ones :).

Here we go:

This particular one was done using Distress Inks, Stamping, Mica Spray

Next we have this butterfly one which was put together using Ink Sprays, Stamping and Mica Spray

This particular one was a bit more of a thought out one, It has been done on a tag using Distress Inks, Stamping, and Mica Sprays, I have a big thing for Skulls :D

This little lot have been done using, Ink Sprays, Distress Inks, Stencils, Stamping, Mica Sprays and using the Ghosting technique

This piece was done by just pressing the blank piece into the Ink Sprays which had gone onto my mat, so a bit of a blotching wipe up and it turned out brill :)

Last but not least these few pieces were done in a cheap sketchbook which I picked up from The Range, the paper quality in them is brilliant and for 75p for this size can not grumble at all.

This particular one I took inspiration from Dyan Reaveley I absolutely adore her work and her products, I would love to go to one of her workshops.

This one has been done using Stamps and Distress Inks, I even coloured in the butterfly wings with Distress Inks and water :)

These two were done using just Water and Ink Sprays

I hope you have enjoyed taking a look at these as much as I did doing them, I am hoping to work on a few more little projects very soon as I have acquired some more new stamps and goodies YAY!!

Fairy Wishes

Hi all and welcome back to The Crafty Bat.

Today's post is to share with you all another mixed media piece which has been done on a canvas board. I had so so so much fun doing this one I had been itching to get going with something like this.

Lets get to it, For this piece the materials I have used are as follows: Distress Inks, Blending Tool, Template, Stamps and a Canvas Board.

So to start this beautiful beautiful piece off I firstly had to decide which way I wanted it to go Horizontal or Vertical I went with Horizontal to fit more detail in. Now to play about with a circle template as to where I wanted it to go once I was happy I temporary stuck it down using a bit of sticky off sticky notes ;) (This tip i picked up from a You Tube video).

Next the colours of distress inks to give me the look I wanted once I had chosen I used my mini blending tool to firstly cover the whole canvas board In one colour starting off the canvas and gradually on to it in a circular motion.

The next colour I worked from the centre of the circle temple and out onto the canvas building the colour up slowly until I was happy. I then removed the circle carefully and then in small bits distressed the middle of the circle.

Once all the colours were built up to how I wanted them too look for the sky it was time to do the ground, I tore off some paper not being careful with it at all so I got a nice wavy (hilly) look this was then placed where I wanted it at the bottom of the canvas and was taped down either side on my desk so it would not move. Again working off the paper and onto the canvas in a circular motion I slowly built up the colour. I then carefully removed the torn paper to reveal a nice wavy (hilly) looking ground.

Now the fun part the stamping... The stamps I used are from Lavinia Stamps, Dylusions Stamps and Bee Crafty Stamps.

So I carefully positioned where i wanted my main feature stamp, inked her up using Black Memento ink, next I did the Vine stamping in the same way then used a lovely grass border stamp by Bee Crafty and lastly the lovely Dandelions from a set of Dyslusions Stamps by Dyan Revealey.

Here we have the finished piece... Fairy Wishes

I hope you have once again enjoyed coming over and taking a look at what I have been up to, I will link below where you can get the stamps from that I have used here.

Special Make for a Special Nephew

Well today is my relax day at home so I thought I would share with you all a latest piece which was made for my nephew for his 15th Birthday which was on Friday.

Now my nephew is special needs he has ADHD his mental age is a lot younger than he actually is and he has a heart condition so can be tricky to buy for so I thought I would do something special for him.

So with in mind I know he loves his computer, Games, Making music and listening to it especially Dubstep I had one of those DING LIGHT
BULB moments on what I could do for him.

Here it is....

Products used for this were: Ink Sprays, Visible Image Stamp, Bee Crafty Stamp, Pc and Printer, Watercolour Pens, WOW Embossing Powder and a Heat Gun.

So he is a teenager who loves his music what better what to show this than doing his name in a Graffiti font. I printed it out coloured it in, in his favourite colours and fussy cut it out.

Stamped the headphones,Parental Advisory Signs, Music On World Off sentiment, and Skull onto smooth white card and used different WOW embossing powders and embossing glitters. One of the Parental Advisory signs was embossed in glow in the dark embossing powder.

I set these to one side until I was ready to fussy cut them all out. So the fun part getting messy and creative with the wonderful Dylusions Ink Sprays I used three colours once I was happy and it was dry I then took the stamps which I had stamped and embossed earlier and fussy cut them all out, I then played around with where each peace was going around his name as that was my focal point. Once I was happy with the placements I then glued them into place.

I left this over night to fully dry and set then framed it in a lovely black 30x25cm frame which can be hung or stood.

The birthday boy LOVED it!!! and said OH Wow that is cool Thank you.
So that is one happy nephew and one happy auntie

Hope you enjoyed looking and get inspiration from this any questions feel free to ask :)

Galaxy Themed Mixed Media Art Canvas

Hello All and Welcome to The Crafty Bat

I am a big fan of the galaxy look so I wanted to create my own on a 5x5 framed canvas, I used the following materials: Distress Ink Pads, Blending Tool, Water, Dew Drop Ink, Water Brush and a lovely quote stamp from Bee Crafty.

To get the look I was after I had to decide on the colours I wanted to use this took some time with changing my mind then looking at other colour combos until I was finally happy

I layered up the colours bit by bit and then went over all the edging to give it a dark space look I finished the canvas off with a mixture of white ink and water and flicked it on.

Next I used a Star Stencil and my white ink with my water brush and coloured in the stars in the stencil and carefully removed the stencil.

The last part I then stamped the quote onto some smooth white card, cut it out and inked the edges up and then played about with where to put the quote. Once I was happy I then glued them into place.

TAAADAAAA!!

One galaxy themed canvas complete with a fitting quote "Shoot for the moon Even if you miss you'll land among the STARS"

I hope this has given you some inspiration to have a try your self, play around with different colour combinations and techniques and most of all have fun doing it.
