October Mission Inspiration

Hi Crafters

Today I thought I would share with you all a new art journal page I have done after following the October Mission Inspiration by Mike Deakin.

I have been a followers of Mike's for some time and love the mission Inspiration prompts but have not got around to trying one until now... For October Mike put together 2 versions and of cause I went with the Halloween one.

Here are the prompts

Now for what I have done following these prompts

I love how this page turned out especially as it was my first time taking part int he Mission Inspiration, the quote I have added to my page reads " Shadows of a thousand years rise again unseen, voices whisper in the trees TONIGHT IS HALLOWEEN" The quote is by Dexter Kozen.

The products I have used for this page are as follows:
Pebeo Dyna Acrylic Paint - Iridescent Green Yellow
Dyusions Paint - Pure Sunshine, Tangerine Dream
Indigo Blu Acrylic - Aladdin
Fabric
Black Gesso
White Ink Pad
Damask Stamp
That's Crafty - Skull Stencil
White Gel Pen

I hope you like what I have done and it gives you some inspiration, If you would like to check out Mission Inspiration you can fdn the group >> HERE <<. Each month new prompts are released.

Art Journal Play Time

Hey Hey

Today I  thought I would share with you all a double page layout in my large Dylusions Art Journal.

This time I didn't use any texture pastes etc and just kept it simple with minimal supplies a bit of a back to the basics.

So here is what I came up with although it was more of a go with the flow play

No Flash

 Flash

For this layout I used the following supplies:
Large Dylusions Art Journal
Distress Oxide Inks
Water Spray
Cog Die Cuts in Kraft Card
Tim Holtz Small Talk Stickers
Tim Holtz Paper Dolls

It is quite surprising what you can achieve with just a few supplies which is something we seem to forget when we are so used to using texture paste and more, as we say less is more at times and i really enjoyed doing this with little supplies, it was a bit of a Grab 5 like Adele (Inkie Quill) does.

I hope you like what I have done here and it inspires you

New Beginnings Art Journal Page

Hi all

Today I have an art journal spread to share with you all which I also did while at the crop on Saturday.

I wanted to have a messy day while there so only took my art journal and mixed media products with me I will say though I did not take everything I own to do art journalling lol.

So here it is

The stamped sentiment reads: What appears to be the end is usually the start of a new beginning. I thought this sentiment fitted the layout so well.

For this piece I used the following products:
Large Dylusions Art Journal
Liquitex Basic Paints
White Gesso
Dylusions Stamp
Andy Skinner Stencil
Black Gesso
Brushes

All of this page has been painted by hand I have not sketched anything out before hand and is the first time I have attempted something like this, Yes most will say oh its not great but to me I am happy with it and that is what matters as it is my art journal and is something for me.

For my first attempt at something like this is not bad going at all, and I hope it inspires you to give art journalling a go there are no rules just go for it and go with the flow as they say.

Don't be scared on starting that first page in your journal as it is for YOU. Do what makes you happy and let yourself go with what ever materials you want to use on your page.

My Art Journal Journey BEGINS

Hi all and welcome back to my blog

I am so excited to be doing this blog post and sharing with you all as it has been a long time coming and something I have been wanting to do for such a long time now. I finally got a Dylusions Creative Journal for my birthday and could not wait to get stuck in. Products used are linked at the end of this post

This is how my first page started out AFTER I gesso'ed and stamped the whole page. (When you look closely at the page it self you can slightly see some stamping under the paint just peeking through)

I love love love how my background came together this was done using Dylusions Paint I used my fingers and then a baby wipe.

After this was all dry then came the scary part bringing it more to life with a design and here is mine

I hand drew the dream catcher and all the detail in it with pencil and then went over it all with black acrylic paint, I then concentrated on doing the feathers which was done free-hand with white acrylic paint and grey acrylic paint once these were dry I then put in the detail on joining the feathers to the dream catcher and I used a embossing stylus to make the dots with black acrylic paint.

The quote was done through a stencil using white acrylic paint with a make-up sponge then outlined with my white gel pen once it was dry, I also then added in all the white detailing on the dream catcher with my white gel pen, Lastly came the stars fro the same stencil as the quote and I did these using some Iridescent medium through the stencil using a spatula.

To bring it altogether I doodled a border with the white gel pen and then went around the page edges with my black ink pad.

I absolutely loved doing this and really enjoyed myself I even enjoyed getting really messy with the paint (was the fun part), I hope you have enjoyed looking at my first art journal page and will continue to follow me on my art journal journey.
